Biden not even considering anybody but black women is the opposite of "opened up".

All the best things are not owed to white mem because they are white men.

Neither are they owed to black women because they are black women.

But let's end this derail. I merely provided KBJ as an example of Biden being extremely pro-black, and that therefore opposition to him by some black students was strange.

Yes. Saying that there must be two black SCOTUS justices (and not considering anybody not black and female for the seat) means that 22% of the Court is guaranteed to be black which is more than black share in the population.

I think the narrative will be that when the time comes both Thomas and KBJ should only be replaced with other black justices. The pressure will be especially high if the president at the time is a Democrat.

So I suppose we get to the real issue you have here. Where in the world were your threads whining about all of the white nominations when white people are grossly hyper-represented on the Supreme Court?

White people are not grossly hyperrepresented on the Court. Where do you get that idea?

If Hispanics are counted as not white, the US is snout 56% white now. Up until 2009, there was at most one justice of color. After 2010, there were 3 justices of color. It took until 2022 to reach 4 which made SCOTUS 55% white

So depending on what one means by “grossly hyperrepresented”, it is either up to 2009 or 2010 or 2022.

Considering it took over 100 years to get one Black person elected to Congress and it took until 1967 to get one Black person put on SCOTUS, it's past time to have more Black folks on the courts and in Congress. Plus, it's past time for white men to stop whining about being discriminated against. Poor poor pitiful white guys who have controlled the country since its origin. One Black president and 3 Black members of SCOTUS. I haven't even mentioned that the first women elected to Congress was around 1920.

This the worst you can find? It is a bit missing the point of the original Thanksgiving where a bunch of religious separatist radicals bound themselves with the Wampanoag who had saved their lives.

Oddly enough, I think the super spreader event was more back in 1607 or 1615 (don't feel like looking it up) when Cape Cod (back then part of mainland America) was discovered by Europeans. Squanto could communicate in English, thanks to being captured and taken to England. He made his way back and was there when the Pilgrims made with their best attempt at mass suicide in their first winter at Plimoth. I believe once the Pilgrims were there, the damage had already been done.

That Thanksgiving today is a four-day weekend meant to boost the national economy would be a bigger reason to toss it aside, because the original was two remarkably different groups of people that had little else in common than a shared sense of human decency and found common ground. It is the America we like to remember. What would come later with the Native Americans wouldn't be quite so memorable (in a good way).

The Republican Party should never have allowed a fascist to run for Congress or for president, or a person with obvious signs of dementia.

The members of the DSA are not the danger that the members of the current Republi party are!

I learned a new woke word today...from Francesca Hong. Folx. Thought it was a typo, but no. It's real. Think "Latinx".

I don't think this one is catching on with the public, though. Thankfully. And what's up with Indegenous? Did she mean Indigenous? Seems to me if you're going to get up on a soapbox to express your support for some group, it would behoove you to at least spell their name right.
