2026 Mid-Term Elections

Apparently hatred and bigotry against Muslims is considered to be a winning campaign strategy in Michigan, the state with the most Muslims in the entire country.
Opposing political Islam is not "hatred and bigotry". And without the Islamist settler colonies of Dearbornistan and Hamtramckabad Haley Stevens would have won the nomination handily.

He has a point:

El-Sayed decries AIPAC but has no problem taking moneys linked to CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood while he is spewing bile against Israel.

Avila Chevalier (NY) started an anti-Israel group at Columbia that openly supports the 10/7 jihad against Israel. She also attended the pro-Hamas protest on 10/8/2023.

Adam Hamawy (NJ) was an associate of the terrorist who organized the first WTC bombing.

Tell us for the 1000th time you do not actually understand test scores with relations to performance as a physician, using your own words.
You are the one who doesn't understand. For the 1000th time.
You keep beating the MCAT scores when you are t beating the SATs or ACTs and you are completely ignoring the well established fact that Biden rejected an extremely well qualified candidate for USSC Justice and she was duly confirmed.
Again. That was another example of the leftist ideology of discriminating against certain groups and favoring others.
Trump selected a not particularly well qualified woman because he says he would choose a woman. I don’t hear you bitching about that. Or about Brett Kavanaugh or Clarence Thomas.
How are these people not qualified? I am not talking whether you agree with their positions but about qualifications.
In any case, no USSC justice has ever taken the MCATs as far as I know.
Never said they have.
Derec: This is the sad truth that I learned my first week of college: nobody gave a fuck about my perfect GPA or my stellar SAT scores. Because they absolutely no longer mattered. The only thing that mattered was how well I did once I was in an actual university class.
You don't get it. The significance of SATs and high school grades is that they are (unlike race) the best predictor of how somebody will do in their college classes. Both because past performance tells the university something about your academic aptitude and work ethic, but also because knowing the high school material well gives you a foundation to succeed in college.
That's why these are important tools for admissions, and that is why colleges have been foolish to go "test optional" for political/ideological reasons.
Same thing for med school, law school, vet school, grad school, pharmacy school, etc.
Those things matter for admissions but not one single second after you’re admitted or denied admission.
Well, that's what the table I posted is about - admissions. And you admit that these metrics matter for admissions. But you see in that table that blacks, Hispanics and American Indian students are admitted with markedly lower GPA and MCAT scores than whites and Asians.

I think this is wrong just as it is wrong to deny anybody who is not a black woman consideration for a SCOTUS seat or running mate slot.

There are many well qualified women who are black. They worked very hard to achieve their goals. They deserve the same consideration as white people, males, hispanics, asians, and anyone else.
Exactly. The same consideration. Not special consideration, much less sole consideration, which is what Biden did as part of his Corrupt Bargain with Jim Clyburn. And then repeated when it came to selecting his running mate (which ended up costing the Dems the 2024 election).

The ones who usually get the boost are the white men. That’s fading now but no worries: they have other white men to champion them!
White men haven't been getting the "boost" for over half a century now, ever since the advent of the Affirmative Action era. Instead, we have been getting the shaft. How can you seriously claim that there is some kind of boost for white men when Biden did not consider any white men for either SCOTUS seat nor for running mate?

What has happened for women and minorities since affirmative action is that now we are considered for positions and if we get them, we are assumed to have received our places because of affirmative action—not our qualifications. Trust me: I’ve heard that a lot from white males who were less qualified than I was as have my sisters and friends.

Men still get a ‘boost’ when they marry or become parents. Women are assumed to be less dedicated and likely to take maternity leaves the moment they announce their engagement.

I’ve seen/heard some pretty nasty racism in my jobs, including the one I retired from, an excellent medical/health care corporation. Within the last decade. I’ve been subjected to some gross sexual harassment and have witnessed plenty through my employment at a variety of jobs/work places.

And as the kids today like to say: I don’t get out much.

At this writing, in the WI Democratic primary for governor David Crowley leads Francine Hing by less than 2000 votes with an estimated 77% vote in.

‘Muslim Brotherhood official website’ celebrates Abdul El-Sayed’s U.S. Senate primary victory

Note: Hamas is the offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood. CAIR and Muslim Brotherhood affiliated groups and individuals also donated a lot of money to the El Sayed campaign.
WTF is The Midwesterner?
Right wing digital news—or ‘news’ depending on your POV:

Overall, we rate The Midwesterner Right Biased for consistently promoting conservative and anti-progressive narratives while minimizing or excluding counterpoints. We also rate them as questionable to the complete lack of transparency, anonymous ownership, and ideological editorializing, it receives a Mixed factual rating. Articles contain elements of factual reporting derived from legitimate local outlets but are often framed in a partisan manner, lacking balance and editorial accountability.

It looks like the Democratic candidate for Wisconsin Governor is David Crowley who is leading the Francine Hong (a bete noir of conservatives and chicken littles) by a little over 3,000 votes with 98.2% of the votes counted.

Calling those places Islamist is bigotry. My primary care physician is from Dearborn. He is a Sikh.

Yeah, I checked them out. My larger point is, they don't even have an About page. Why? Are they ashamed of who they are?

Seconded. Anti-woman bias was heavy in my field when I was getting started. There are still very few women in leadership roles. It’s better now but still a lot of mediocre white dudes failing up while women have to over perform to get ahead and they are still running into a ceiling. But our current deputy director is a woman and she’s the likely successor to the director spot. It’s better but not without headwinds and legacy effects of institutional bias that don’t magically go away in a couple of decades.

My wife has some interesting stories about what she experienced interviewing for her first jobs coming out of vet school. DVM and being treated by perspective employers like she was interviewing for secretary in a 1950s law firm.

I don’t know how Companies do it without women at the top - especially small businesses.
The success of my/our last business is largely attributable to the female COO we hired, whom we heavily vested in the business on a performance basis.
She not only had the smarts and the work ethic, but also looks and carriage that could subdue men, and the acumen to take advantage of it. Neither I nor my (male) business partner had the talent to analyze spreadsheets while charming the entity whose behavior we were trying to influence, and she was masterful, kind and fair about it. Not to mention her dedication to our mission statement, which amounted to a priority tree:
People
Products
Profits
I learned so much from her about the top line, people.

@blastula Mike Collins is going to kick names and take ass.

MSNow is still playing the insane commercials telling lies about Ossoff, although I doubt many people who watches MSNow are going to support Collins. Ossoff is ahead in the polls and he's popular in Georgia, so unless the Republicans cheat, I don't see Collins winning.

My favorite lie in the ads is that 80% of Georgias support the "SAVE Act". It's probably more like 20%, as Georgia is purple and every friend of mine always vote Democrat. Not only that but why would most women want to go through the trouble of getting copies of their marriages licenses if they've changed their names? Why would so many people want to be required to get an original copy of their birth certificate. I have these documents and it was a pain to get them.

We've had photo ID requirement for well over a decade and only a few things are acceptable, like a driver's license, state ID card or a passport. Not sure if there are any other IDs that are acceptable. Let them waster their money on these stupid ads. I think most of us know Ossoff so we don't need to hear these stupid lies.
