Just saw a video that said most data centers are being built in places that are already in drought condition.

In post 16 I noted a data centre being built near me. Here is a picture of it from the east. The building is now just visible from my house. It is
beginning to look like a castle or a mediaeval fortress. At night the cranes have either red or white lights on them. As they pirouette across the sky line it can look quite pretty.


Of course in Australia, as elsewhere, there is a push by the tech Bros for the Aust. govt to reduce copyright protection or eliminate it in exchange for more data centres. There is increasing pushback from locals about these data centres.
Such a Faustian bargain. How of these data centres do we need? We need some for R&D and to store all those cat videoes but it seems to be gathering a momentum of its own.
My wife creates her own original patterns and designs for her business and copyright protection is most important. It should not be thrown away for a few pieces of silver. Matt 6:26.

How of these data centres do we need?

For what? If we want to create a potentially hostile set of behaviors, the more the better. If you want to avoid that, only one would be ideal.

Here is that data centre I have been following taken from the vantage point of the 100 Steps of Federation. The distance is about 3.5km as the crow flies.

Still looks like a castle or an Imperial strong point on a recalcitrant planet.
