Merged Fauci Should Be In Prison - Senator Rand Paul

To denote when two or more threads have been merged
There does seem to be a major effort underway to rehabilitate the public's perception of the government mismanagement of Covid, up to and including trying to rehabilitate gesundheit-fuhrer Fauci. Why this major effort five years later?
You mean responding to the flood of disinfo slander that you people were spouting ahead of the mid terms to scare up some votes and kill a few more people with measles

Meanwhile there are boomers and elder genX that are still taking candy apple flavored ivermectin from tractor supply like it’s some kind of multivitamin.

Social distance and one way aisles were sensible, very minor adjustments to daily life

No they weren't.

Getting arrested if you are on the beach alone sounds like the result of breaching a barrier a State or federal agency put in place. If it was a local ordinance to close a beach then the penalty would have been getting a ticket and paying a fine, and that would only be unjust if notice wasn’t posted.

A barrier put up in response to Covid.

And saying “12 months to flatten the curve” has no bearing on whether someone thinks some vaccines are effective or that it’s a good idea for people to get them.

Exactly my point.

You asked why there is renewed attention on Fauci. I think the deaths of unvaccinated children due to diseases for which effective vaccines exist and people being less gullible about the claims of congressmen going after public servants like Fauci and Jack Smith are driving that attention. The day Rand Paul pulls his head out of his ass and gets over his own ego is the day Fauci is no longer headline news.

So you are saying that anyone who had problems with the Covid restrictions is a denier of vaccines in general. That's a pretty hefty charge, I invite you to attempt to back it up.

No they weren't.

I suppose if you’re used to being packed in like sardines on a bus or subway train on your daily commute, the effort to maintain social distancing would have been noticeable. But by the same token, if you live in a place with that many people, one way aisles and cordoned off wait lines would be pretty normal.

So then, arrested for going into a place that was off limits to the public for public health and safety reasons. Kind of like hitchhikers on a highway or trespassers in a train yard.

I’m glad we agree.

No.

I am saying I think the reason for the renewed attention on Fauci is kids dying from diseases for which we have effective vaccines that they did not receive, and because Rand Paul has a vendetta against Fauci that he simply will not let go and that causes him to grandstand in Congress and peddle absurd rumors of nefarious medical practices and cover-ups orchestrated by the guy who told to not take ivermectin.

So if a beach is closed because of Covid, and someone goes to the beach, and they were arrested, it wasn't because of Covid?
Correct.

They were arrested because they entered a closed area and it was against the law.

It doesn’t matter if the beach is closed due to an outbreak of disease, or because an archaeological treasure was found there and the Smithsonian is trying to preserve it, or if it’s the nesting place of an endangered species, or because surf conditions are so bad it’s better to keep everyone back, or because Donald Trump is hosting a clambake. Whether you are there to swim or steal treasure or capture a rare bird or get your picture taken at Trump’s party, you could be arrested for going into an area closed to the public and Fauci would not be to blame for you getting your dumb ass hauled before a judge.

I thought we didn’t have to follow the stupid laws.

We only have to follow the smart laws?

Unfortunately, libertarians tend to think all laws that don’t promote their specific interests are stupid and the rest are ideologically onerous.

So if a beach is closed because of Covid, and someone goes to the beach, and they were arrested, it wasn't because of Covid?
Correct.

They were arrested because they entered a closed area and it was against the law.

That's absurd. The beach was closed because of Covid, therefore their arrest was ultimately because of Covid.

If A leads to B, and B leads to C, then A leads to C. Put as many steps in between as you want, it doesn't change anything.

Covid did not cause them to break the law.

Huh? All I see is what I've seen over the last few years. MAGAtards doing their best to make sure no blame falls onto Dear Leader. Tell me what I've missed.
That’s it exactly. Some few are still trying to milk the MAGA cow and provide some justification fir their own utter abd despicable lack of any sense of decency or concern for the public which, btw, was the job they chose for themselves.

How was social distancing or one way aisles anything other than a minor change in usual social behavior?

Locally grocery stores specifically set aside early morning hours for 65+ shoppers, knowing that would be a slow time anyway fir grocery shopping ( for those who preferred shopping in person) and masks were required, hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes were available, staff also wiped down carts as they brought them into the store.

Yes, it was difficult but more difficult for people like a close friend who had a fatal degenerative condition and so was forced to be more isolated than normal for a few months.

For most healthy adults, it was a fairly minor inconvenience.

You can play Six Degrees of Anthony Fauci all you like. It doesn’t matter why the beach was closed, only that it was and going there was against the law.

If the beach was closed due to an enormous swarm of jellyfish brought about by an unprecedented rise in ocean temperatures then your being arrested for going there would be because of your unlawful entry into a closed area, not because of climate change. And blaming Al Gore for your legal troubles would be absurd.

You're right. The beach was closed due to cosmic inflation and the decoupling of gravity from the other three fundamental forces of the Standard Model.

Glad we could clear that up.

I'm just posting some of Fauci's outstanding contributions to public health during his long career. It's disgusting how this man has been criticized and threatened by people like Rand Paul etc. Nobody is perfect and dealing with COVID was quite a challenge. Fauci did a great job of helping us understand the disease and the necessity of taking vaccines along with social distancing at the height of the pandemic. Anyone who criticizes Fauci is woefully ignorant!

Anthony S. Fauci, MD, the outgoing director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and a trusted adviser to seven U.S. presidents, has earned our trust for a whole host of reasons: more than a half-century of public health service, a calm demeanor amid crisis, a legendary work ethic, and decades of leadership in groundbreaking medical research that led to the publication of more than 1,100 scientific papers, to name just four.

he COVID-19 pandemic has been and remains unlike any public health crisis we have ever faced due to politically charged polarization and anti-science aggression that arose early and persists to this day. That partisan divide has pushed the COVID-related death toll in the U.S. higher than other large, well-resourced nations by fueling vaccine hesitancy and refusal, and by heightening resistance to public health measures proven effective in slowing the spread of infectious disease. And sadly, the overt politicization of COVID-19 resulted in an avalanche of hostility and even credible death threats directed at Dr. Fauci and his family.

The threats against Dr. Fauci and his loved ones are emblematic of the intimidation and outright violence directed at physicians, nurses, hospitals and health systems nationwide whose lives are at stake, even as we work to save lives and minimize harm by delivering evidence-based medical care. Health workers, like all workers, should be able to pursue their profession without fear of intimidation or physical harm.

Misinformation and disinformation continue to drive these threats, and it is only by communicating facts and our current understanding of the evidence that science can ultimately prevail. As the nation’s top expert on infectious disease, Dr. Fauci was thrust into the role as the face of coronavirus response. This role was not unfamiliar to him, given his leadership through the HIV/AIDS crisis in the 1980s and subsequent experience with the threats posed by the Ebola and Zika viruses.

Dr. Fauci’s experience with HIV/AIDS research in the 1980s exemplifies both his leadership as well as his flexibility and willingness to listen. He won over LGBTQ+ activists angered by the slow pace of treatment research by fundamentally altering the government’s clinical trial methodology, and expanding enrollment in antiviral trials to include AIDS patients, people who inject drugs and others directly affected by the crisis.

There's a lot more about Fauci in the linked piece.

If you repeat "it doesn't matter why the beaches were closed" and "the restrictions were only mild inconveniences" often enough, it doesn't make it any more true.

The same goes for asserting that those who resisted Covid fascism are also general vaccine deniers.

Colorado was recently hit by severe flooding in the Four Corners area caused by two storms that brought heavy rainfall to the region. The Highway 160 roadway between Pagosa Springs and Durango was severely damaged in places and sections of it were closed. Here is a video of a someone who went around the roadblocks and almost drove onto a collapsed bridge over the Piedra River:

Colorado law states that a road closure takes effect once officials put up traffic control devices giving notice, and after that no driver may disobey them. So my question is, if the driver receives a traffic ticket is it

1. because of heavy rainfall,

2. because the Colorado governor declared a state of emergency in several counties in Southwest Colorado, or

3. because the driver went around a roadblock and drove on a highway that had been closed by State officials.

I think the answer is #3. What say you?

That is a consequence of absolute truth.

”Covid fascism” - that’d be hilarious if it wasn’t so pathetic.

His repetitions don't create truth, that is an absolute truth, we agree.

So you agree that resisting the Covid restrictions doesn't make one a general vaccine denier.

We've agreed twice in one day, there is hope for you.

How many more Americans would you be willing to see die from a deadly virus for your stupid Libertarian politics?
