Jordan Has Had Enough: King Abdullah's Scathing Warning to Israel

In a harsh UN General Assembly speech, the Jordanian monarch portrayed Israel as an ever-growing threat. While Jerusalem works to expand the Abraham Accords, relations with Jordan are in danger – and the Hashemite Kingdom is seeking alternatives

Abdullah made clear in unequivocal terms what he thinks of the Israeli government and its policies. "If we are to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the world must abandon some illusions," he said in his speech. "The first is that Gaza and the West Bank are separate stories. They are not. They are two fronts of the same Israeli strategy. In both, Palestinians are being killed. In both, the reality on the ground is being remade. Gaza through destruction. The West Bank through de facto annexation …. Another illusion is that this Israeli leadership's rejection of Palestinian statehood is a position that might yet change. It is not. It is being cemented on the ground."

As Abdullah said he sees it, the expulsion of Palestinian communities from their homes, the open talk about reviving plans for Gaza transfer, expanding Israeli control in the border area between Syria and Jordan and the possibility that, to Jordan's alarm, Israel will eventually seize the Yarmouk Basin constitute a grave security threat.

It marks the first time that the king has mapped out the regional threats encompassing the three areas linked by Israel's control.

Abdullah's remarks reflect the concerns of all the countries of the region, which separately and together have been warning against Israel policies. "No one in this Assembly should assume its ambitions stop at Palestine. This Israeli government's expansionist appetite is now a regional threat. And today, Syria is the warning the international community is choosing not to see," he said.

It was also the first time that the king spoke about punitive and containment measures the international community must adopt to forestall the threat. "The question now is, will we act? Because the world's political inaction is not for lack of options. So, let's call it what it is – a choice. We have tools: Sanctions, asset freezes, embargoes, diplomatic isolation. And we have a record of using them elsewhere. Yet with Israel, resolutions end where they begin – on paper. The result is a state without restraint."

The article goes a bit into the history of the peace agreement in 1994, Jordan's status of a senior non-NATO ally, its assistance in intercepting Iranian missiles and drones launched at Israel and U.S. assets in the region, and plans for a pipeline to bypass the Straits of Hormuz that passes through Jordan to the Jordanian port of Aqaba.

Trump won't give a shit about the worsening relations between Israel and Jordan but the rest of us should. This is very bad news for the region and the people who live there.

Flydubai flight to Tel Aviv lands in Saudi Arabia after violent struggle in cockpit. Israeli warplanes scrambled after an emergency signal raised fears of a hijacking. The jet, carrying 180 passengers, landed safely in Tabuk after reports of a bloody altercation.

JERUSALEM — A flight carrying about 180 passengers to Tel Aviv from Dubai made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday after a violent struggle between pilots prompted a hijacking distress signal and Israel to scramble fighter jets.

Israeli officials said they believed that one pilot stabbed another and were investigating the possibility of a serious security incident or terrorist attack, a person familiar with the matter said, speaking on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief the media.

Having journalism as day job does not give one immunity for moonlighting as a terrorist.
Being a part of the IDF does not one immunity from shooting journalists, even if one asserts (without evidence) that the journalists in question were all terrorists.

Surely somebody wants to report on the war without first becoming a terrorist.

Maybe they don't want to be murdered by the Gazans who will kill honest reporters for interfering with their plans.

Or maybe 10 journalists claimed by the IDF to be terrorists out of over 100 claimed to be "terrorist adjacent" are being used as an excuse for the killing of more than twice that number in Gaza since the war began.

It's extremely likely some of the journalists killed in targeted strikes were affiliated with Hamas in some way. It's extremely unlikely that IDF soldiers shooting into clusters of reporters walking down the street were aiming at known Hamas members.

Or maybe they don't want to be killed by the IDF as terrorists and then slandered by others on the internet.

Funny how people always add "without evidence" to everything IDF/Israel says, but accept Hamas claims without question.
Do images of these "journalist" in their jihadist getups don't count as evidence to you?

Even BBC is reviewing classification of some of these "journalists" because they have actually been claimed by Hamas and PIJ.

BBC reviewing inclusion of 53 terrorists on list of journalists killed in Gaza during war - report
Surely somebody wants to report on the war without first becoming a terrorist.
Surely. But those are far less likely to get killed.

Evidence that ALL of the journalists killed by the IDF were terrorists?

No. Absolutely not.

If I have evidence that somebody in your profession is a paedophile, does an image of them assaulting a child count as evidence that everyone in your profession is a paedophile? Should you be executed or imprisoned without further ado?

Your attempted rebuttal is absurd.

Why does it have to be ALL? Reporting from urban warzones is still a dangerous endeavor.

But many killed Gazan journalists turning out to be in reality terrorists explains why there are so many supposed "journalists" killed in this conflict.

Good news:

IDF kills Hamas Nukhba commander in Gaza who infiltrated Re'im base on October 7

Jerusalem Post said:
The IDF killed Hamas Nukhba cell commander Maher Walid Omar Al-Husseini in the southern Gaza Strip on Wednesday, the military announced on Friday.
According to the IDF, Al-Husseini infiltrated the Re'im military base as part of Hamas's October 7 massacre.
Since the 2023 attacks, the terrorist continued his involvement in planning terror attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians, the military noted.
The announcement follows two separate Gaza strikes on Thursday, which killed an additional Hamas commander who participated in the October 7 massacre and a Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorist.
The Hamas commander, Mohammed Mohammed Abd al-Khalek Hala, was killed in northern Gaza, while the PIJ terrorist, Ahmad Jabrin Tawfiq Dalhan, was killed in Khan Yunis, the IDF said earlier on Friday.

OK, They claim land given to them by a made up god in a book that their ancestors wrote that has been occupied by their distant cousins for hundreds of years. Right?
And Arabs/Muslims claim Jerusalem is theirs because Mohammed had a dream about it. And claim the whole Levant because of Arab and Muslim imperialism and colonialism in the centuries since then. But Arab imperialism/colonialism is considered good by the Left because only European imperialism/colonialism is bad, right?

Yes, my grandfather was from Sweden, so I should be able to go to Kyiv and own all the trees because Odin was completely okay with Rurik and the Varangians ruling Kievan Rus. I'm not sure how many trees are left in Kyiv given the current political climate, but it's the principle that matters.

Evidence that ALL of the journalists killed by the IDF were terrorists?
Why does it have to be ALL?
Because that was the hypothetical context of the rhetorical question, as I emphasise below:

Being a part of the IDF does not one immunity from shooting journalists, even if one asserts (without evidence) that the journalists in question were all terrorists.

You snipped the rhetorical question of both context and response; And ignored my actual question, which was a request for evidence of your claim that non-terrorist reporters are far less likely to get killed by the IDF.

Is this incompetence on your part, or dishonesty?
